Words Matter.

False equivalency, exaggeration, and hyperbole distort debate.

We used to “call a spade a spade.” Now, a spade has become

A terrorist attack by

who want to

destroy democracy and take away our freedoms.

More likely, though, a spade is still just a spade.

It might loosen the soil, or maybe aerate the roots adding fresh oxygen.

Disruptive? Yes.

But a spade brings nutrients that promote growth.

And, after all:

It’s just a spade.

Like a spade, the words we use matter.

Calm the conversation.

Build Consensus.

Call a spade a spade.

Ancient wisdom from the Book of Proverbs offers that:

“A word fitly spoken is like apples of gold in a setting of silver’.

Let’s work towards that, together.

Words matter. Choose wisely.
